Quick plug for one of the handy non-essentials. If you don’t have a rice cooker, and you eat brown rice or steamed vegetables (hopefully you do BOTH), a rice cooker will make that experience much more pleasant. Brown rice turns out really nice and moist (we recommend brown basmatti rice, which you may have to order online if you can’t find it, or use whatever else you can.
And steaming vegetables could not be easier than the rice-cooker method; dump, plug in, turn on, wait briefly.
Make sure your rice maker has a steamer basket, and make sure it’s nonstick (if you’re into that) or spray it with cooking spray before you start.
