Do I need a rest day in my exercise program?

It depends.  If your exercise program is low impact; for example, walking, and you don’t feel like you’re getting sore or slowing down, a rest day isn’t a practical requirement.  Otherwise, yes.

Regardless of whether you rest from your exercise, it’s important to take one day a week to RELAX as much as you can reasonably do.  If you’ve been missing your off day in that regard, take more than one off day back to back to catch up somewhat.  It’s ok to do things you consider fun, family-building, relationship-creating things on that day, but not OK to do work that stresses you out.
