Gympact and RunKeeper

Runkeeper

I admire RunKeeper — the smartphone app that lets you chart your walks-runs-hikes-bike rides and not only see how far you went, but watch along in real time as you compete with that old slow guy you were the last time you took the same route.  It’s ingenious.  And it’s free.

And it integrates with several other fitness apps you may already know about, like GymPact.  Now you don’t have to do your GymPact exercise strictly at the GPS location of a verifiable gym facility — you can put in a half hour of movement, as long as you go 3 miles, and get your gym credit for the GymPact day right from RunKeeper.

Alone or in combination with other apps, it’s a powerful free tool for your fitness tool kit.
