McDonald’s Asks Franchisees To Celebrate Christmas By Staying Open On Dec. 25 – The Consumerist

In an attempt to continue bouncing back from an almost unheard-of dip in sales during October, the folks at McDonald’s have asked franchisees to not close down during the holidays this year.

Pretty confusing really — they’re reporting $6,000 in receipts from staying open Christmas day — that’s what,   maybe 100-200 customers?  For a whole day?  The whole McDonalds system is so bad off financially that they need that $6,000, and can’t afford to pay the employees who bring in that money any extra?

Beyond that, we’re wondering where this will end.  Perhaps the idea that people are typically home with their families a couple of days each year, is just not workable anymore.  Sad.

Here’s a thought.  Keep your butt out of the drive-hrough this one day please, and maybe sales will be so poor they abandon the idea.
