Head Hunger

You’re hungry because you are not eating without restraint.  We’ll leave aside the possibility you’re  actually physically very hungry, and talk about psychologically being especially hungry.

You get head-hungry when you’re in a situation in which you’d normally eat.  The goal here is going to have to be, now and for the rest of your life, to reprogram whatever it is you do when you’re bored or lonely or happy or with a fun crowd of people or whatever situation you’re in, so you don’t stuff down food to medicate yourself in that setting.

Only you can decide what you’re going to do instead, but decide that before you actually start your weight loss program. If you’re already started, let me give you a few alternatives.

1. Do something you can’t eat during.

2. Do something that involves your mind enough that some time will pass without it seeming like an eternity

3. Do something active

Or some combination of all three.  Keep trying things till you find what works for you.

Myself, I walk on the treadmill and watch movies when I’m thinking about eating way too much.  That’s probably not what your method will be …. but do find a better alternative.
