How to choose a reasonable goal weight

Let me suggest to first get your BMI under about 28, then start losing a little weight at a time to see how you look.  Some people look rail thin at a BMI of 25 and others look sort of chunky at 28 while still others look really nice up near 30.

For myself I know there’s probably a Looks Great in a Swimsuit weight, but there’s a weight about 15 pounds more than that, the Doesn’t Look Overweight With Clothes On weight, and that’s about the same benefit for me and less deprivational.  It’s about a BMI of 26 and that’s easy to maintain, comparably.
