Have hope. The victory you had today may be the start of the wave

It was only a smile, nothing more. It didn’t make everything all right. It didn’t make anything all right. Only a smile. A tiny thing. A leaf in the woods, shaking in the wake of a startled bird’s flight.

But I’ll take it. With open arms. Because when spring comes, it melts the snow one flake at a time, and maybe I just witnessed the first flake melting.

— The Kite Runner

Ever been to a stadium and seen the wave?  Sometimes it goes round and round multiple times, with 50 or even 100,000 people participating. It’s a powerful thing to watch all those people do something in an artistically coordinated way.

And it all starts with one person standing up with their arms in the air.  And the person next to them.  And to them.  Pretty soon that one person doing one pretty comical looking thing, becomes the wave.

If you’re just starting on a journey, it’s HARD.  You have no momentum other than your will power, which is about to fail.  But take heart.  That stand you took today can be the beginning of the wave.
