How much weight can I lose via exercising?

The “weigh” he was Camp America commandant los...Here’s the rub.  Eating takes almost no effort at all, but exercise takes a large amount of effort.

Let’s say you’re a 200 pound guy.  You’re going to have to run a half marathon to burn enough calories to lose a pound of body fat.  In fact, you’re going to have to walk an hour to nullify the effect of a piece of chocolate cake.

So … yes, you can lose weight via exercise.  But unless you’re a huge exercise fanatic with a lot of time on your hands, you’re not going to be able to lose weight through exercise alone.

The primary means of reducing your body weight is via intake restriction.

Because you can eat enough walking from the gym to your car to counter the effects of an hour at the gym.  Easily.

Are we saying give up on exercise?  Not at all.  Here’s all the good effects of exercise:

1. You feel better.  Exercise is God’s natural antidepressant.

2. You look better at the weight you are.

3. You feel less like over-eating, knowing how much work it is to burn it off.

4.  You’ll be less sedentary,

and thus you’ll be at less risk of several different diseases.

5.   You will use up some of your stored calories, and improve your weight loss results.  You will lose weight better with a combination of exercise and caloric restriction than with either alone.


To quote someone really wise:  The most effective exercise is to extend both hands in front of you and use them to push back from the dinner table.
