Make Your Own Sugar Free Italian Sodas

Here’s one that’s so easy and inexpensive I can’t believe I didn’t get to it sooner.  Inspired by my favorite low calorie treat from our local ice cream place.

Put several ice cubes in a glass, and fill it 2/3 full with carbonated water.  You don’t have to use the good stuff in the wine bottle, you can use unflavored sparkling water in a 2-liter bottle.

Now add some strawberry sugar free syrup until it’s the level of strawberriness you like.  You might want to surf the site in that link, there’s several flavors that work for this — root beer, peach, whatever you like.

Stir, or not, and you’ve got your own sugar free soda factory.

If you want to turn this into an Italian Cream, add a small amount of actual whipped cream and stir it up partially or totally.  Actual whipped cream does not add a significant number of calories, hardly any more than the fake stuff.  You can use dispenser canned whipped cream so you don’t have to make a larger quantity than you’re going to use.

This pretty much eliminates having to use a SodaFlow or other soda maker, and you don’t have to keep running back and forth to BB&B to exchange carbonation cartridges.
