It’s easy to get down on yourself when you’re pretty overweight, because, honestly, it implies that most of your life, you’ve been unable to control such a basic part of your life as your physical appearance, the most obvious outward statement you make about yourself.

How to reverse that?  Here are some steps that do help:

1. Every day, spend time reminding yourself that you are a person of worth and value, who IS successful at the following things, and then make a list.  Chances are you’ve been amazingly successful in making other difficult achievements.

2. Be thankful for small steps.  Every journey is made up of a large number of small steps.

3. Be just as positive and encouraging with yourself as you would to your own children.  You WILL get there.
